INTRODUCTION:
This PPE is written exclusively for PCBoard version 15.x. The purpose of
this PPE is to allow your users to bank TIME or BYTES and to recover
them when needed. It will also allow the user to exchange the saved time
for bytes or bytes for time. No maintenance is required by the Sysop once
the PPE is installed.
FILES:
Below is a list of files that come with the unregistered version. If any
files are missing please call the BBS listed above. Please do not
modify any of the files except the ones indicated, as the program will
not run properly if these are modified.
DEPOSIT.PPE ---- The main PPE program.
* DEPOSIT.CFG ---- The PPE's config file, modify as needed. See note below.
DEPOSIT.DAT ---- The Data file for the PPE
DEPOSIT.NDX ---- The Index file for the PPE
DEPOSIT.DOC ---- Program documentation (You are reading it now)
HISTORY.DOC ---- Program release history
INTRO .PCB ---- The main introduction screen. Sysop can modify.
* USERMNU.PCB ---- The main data input screen.
** DATAUPD.EXE ---- Support program.
** USTSUPD.EXE ---- Support program.
* Indicates the only modifiable files. Modifying the others will render the
program useless.
** Do not run these programs outside of the PPE, as they may damage your data
file or your user file. These programs are called by the PPE and will pass
information to run correctly.
NOTE: The program will only work with 15.x version dated 06-10-1993 or newer.
-1-
SETUP:
1) Create a directory and UNZIP all files for the PPE into it.
2) Modify your Deposit.CFG file as explained below:
240
2000000
1
100
***************** FORMAT FOR ABOVE DATA ****************
LINE 1 - Maximum minutes allowed to withdraw per day
LINE 2 - Maximum bytes allowed to withdraw per day
LINE 3 - Minimum ratio ( Min = Bytes )
LINE 4 - Byte Ratio ( Min = Bytes )
The minutes to byte exchange is simple. For every minute you
exchange in line 3, you get the amount of bytes in line 4, also
for every exchange of bytes in line 4, you get the amount of
minutes in line 3...
Example: Exchange - 15 minutes for bytes..
if line 3 = 1 and line 4 = 100 you would get
1500 bytes for 15 minutes i.e. 15 * 100..
Exchange - 2000 bytes for minutes..
if line 3 = 1 and line 4 = 100 you would get
20 minutes for 2000 bytes i.e. 2000/100..
Installing the PPE is straight forward and simple. For those of you who
don't know how to setup a PPE, please consult your PCBoard documentation.
3) Run PCBSETUP
4) Choose B-File Locations, then B-Configuration Files.
5) Highlight and edit your CMD.LST file.
6) Create a new entry in the CMD.LST (ALT-I) and fill in the following
information:
Command Security PPE/MNU File -or- Keystroke Replacement
---------- ----------- -------------------------------------------
1) TIME 110 D:\PPES\DEPOSIT.PPE
The command can be anything you want the user to type to activate the PPE.
The security will be the lowest security level you wish to allow a user to
access the PPE. The PPE/MNU file will include the path and the file name of
the PPE in this case the path of the created directory and the PPE called
DEPOSIT.PPE .
7) Set the environment variable for the PWRD file for each node.. i.e.
SET PCB_PWRD=X:\PCB\MAIN\PWRD.
Where X = the drive path to your PWRD file.
You might consider putting this line in your Board.Bat
-2-
8) Because of the changes and extended enhancements of PCBoard 15.x one
other file must be updated. Most of you that have changed over to the
15.X version may not have changed any options in the PWRD file. Even
if you do not plan on using the extra options, the file must be updated
to include the other columns. To do this go into PCBSetup and got to
the File Locations, then choose Configuration Files. The first entry
here will be the PWRD file, hit F2 after the file is brought up make
a change to any one of the values. Exit back out of the file and answer
yes to the question about saving the PWRD file. That is all that is
needed the rest of the file entries will now be updated.
With all this done, you can now go into the BBS and type the command you enter
in your CMD.LST and run the PPE. It will automatically add the user's name
when they execute the command. If you have any problems in getting the program
to run, you may contact me for support by calling my BBS listed below.
REGISTRATION:
The Depository is not free; nor is the un-registered version crippled in
any way to force registration, it is fully functional.
Why register? Besides a clean conscience, you will receive a registered
copy that will work with all future versions of The Depository, and will
remove the Nagware line at the bottom of the intro screen -UNREGISTERED-.
The advantage of registering the program is that you will be supporting
the many hours that went into making this PPE possible by a fellow Sysop,
and encourage me to continue making other quality shareware programs in
the future. Plus you will also receive 2 added features to the program.
1) A Sysop utility that will come up instead of the main menu when the
sysop runs the PPE. This will allow the Sysop to add new users,
purge old users, delete existing users, modify existing users.
2) An add-on program that will run either in the $$logoff or as part
of an event to sort the index files.
The cost of registration is only $15.00
ALL registered versions must be downloaded from the support BBS.
To get your registered copy of The Depository with a credit card
please call (609) 587-2672 and type PCS at the Main Board menu.
Orders are processed in 24 hours and you can then download your
registered version in Conference #55 by typing SUPPORT.
If you prefer to pay by check or money order (Credit cards also)
please fill out the REGISTER.FRM and mail it to:
